Nintendo Australia out of GameCube Controller Adapters for Wii U
Hope you got yours!
Nintendo Australia has sent word, they don’t have anymore GameCube Controller Adapters for the Wii U!
Previously the adapter had been available from them for just under $30. You could have also got the adapter in with a copy of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U if you preordered or were lucky enough to find a bundle in stores.
Here’s the official quote;

We sure hope you didn’t delay, they’re going for not-so-cheap on eBay right now…
Update: We asked Nintendo if they would be getting any more at a later date. Got “Nothing to announce at this time” as an official response. So maybe?

Will they re-stock? Or where the adapters just made on a limited run?

Well that was lucky, I ordered mine at 4pm yesterday.
I hope I don’t get a call saying they sold me stock they didn’t have! :/
I literally just purchased one from Nintendo about 2 hours ago. I’m hoping they would have told me if they sold out. And not screwed me around.

I ordered one last week when I finally caved and replaced my wii u gamepad charger, I was surprised at the time their phones weren’t melting back then because that’s when they adapters were showing up on eBay at crazy prices. Now I just need to find my old GameCube controllers…
Has there been confirmation wether they are region locked or not?
loch: i believe the adaptors ARE but the controllers aren’t.
I think they will be just stocking them to stores like EB and JB, otherwise they lose money from not selling adapters and they also lose money from not selling gamecube controllers. People that don’t have the adapter obviously won’t be buying new gamecube controllers so not selling the adapter actually hurts another product too.
No, the adapters are just a peripheral and aren’t region locked. You will be able to import them from other countries to play without an issue.
