Mega Man 10 announced

Look out Dr. Wily! Mega Man is back for yet another retro-infused adventure, and hes ready to use everything in his 8-bit arsenal to bring you down

The sequel to Capcom’s 2008 download-only Mega Man IX has been prematurely revealed via the front cover of next months’s Nintendo Power magazine. Players can expect the same tried-and-true formula of beating bosses and unlocking powers and weapons on the way to defeating Dr. Wily in classic 8-bit styled gameplay. Looking to extend the appeal of the game beyond just the hardcore, Capcom will introduce a new novice-friendly easy mode for those who find the series’ typically crushing difficulty as a barrier to enjoying the game.

Although the series has used roman numerals for each of the games, the latest game is being labelled with a 10 to avoid confusion with the spin-off series Mega Man X.

Last year’s Mega Man IX on WiiWare was a trip down memory lane for Mega Man fans, as the blue blasting hero returned to his old-school roots with a stripped-back presentation that harkened back to the franchise’s glory days on the NES. The game came complete with a ‘legacy’ mode that intentionally caused the screen flicker much like the lo-fi originals.

No release date is attached, but expect Mega Man 10 to hit Australia’s WiiWare store sometime early next year.
