Pokemon GO Plus will release September 16th in “much of the world”

The Pokemon GO Plus was an accessory designed to be used with the Pokemon GO app that would allow you to play the game without having your phone out. It was announced earlier this year that it would be delayed until some time in September. Niantic have now come out with a specific date – September 16th! This date will be when the accessory releases “in most countries”, but there’s currently no word on which countries those are. We’ll let you know if we get confirmation that you’ll be able to buy it in Australia next week. UPDATE: We will get it on the 16th, yipee!

The Pokemon GO Plus device connects to your phone via Bluetooth, and allows you to experience some parts of the game without having the app open on your phone. You’ll be alerted to nearby PokeStops via vibrations and lights, and will be able to interact with them by pressing a button. You’ll need to check your in-game Journal later on to see what you collected, though.

“We’ve been testing it here at Niantic and we love the way it allows you to blend Pokémon GO even more seamlessly into family and fitness activities.” Niantic’s update states. “Now you’ll be able to play and enjoy your walk, run, hike, park trips or visits to the library without having to look at your screen all the time.”

If you’re playing Pokemon GO, are you going to rush out and get one of these? Or if you stopped playing, will this bring you back in?
