EA set to bring garden simulator to Nintendos new handheld

EA have announced a new 3DS title at their TGS (Tokyo Game Show) event known as My Garden. The game appears to be a straightforward garden simulator, to be presented in full 3D to take advantage of the hardware. The game was confirmed to be a launch title in the US, Japan and Europe, making it the first 3DS game confirmed for launch. This is the first game of its genre (simulation), announced for the 3DS. The developers commented that they are "very excited to be working on such a powerful piece of new hardware."

The basic premise of the game is to develop a virtual garden through the actions of plantation and care, which will ultimately attract various creatures depending on the variety of flora. There are a total of 300 plants to collect, each attracting a different kind of animal. However, if too many unwanted creatures arrive, players can "shake" the 3DS, causing them to flee. The game also utilises some microphone functionality with players having the ability to call a bird by whistling into the microphone. Additionally, players can choose from 6 different environments in which to create their garden varying from a desert to a rooftop.

Tanuki will also work with the player as a guide to help them become a great gardener. How exactly this is achieved is not known, but the Tanuki possesses 20 abilities and different costumes. Whether the latter will further improve its power, or affect anything other than appearance is not currently known.

In addition, players can save photos they take and share them amongst each other. How this is done is unknown, perhaps it will use Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

More details will be revealed next month. My Garden is set to launch alongside the Nintendo 3DS in all territories. Whenever that is.
