Icelandic volcano eruption causes Silent Hill delay for Aussies
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and more are being delayed as stock from Europe is grounded
Bad news, Silent Hill fans. That pesky volcano that has gone and erupted and littered Europe with ash has not only caused delays in travel for thousands, but now is delaying video games coming from Europe.
The distributor of Konami games in Australia has spoken to Kotaku and told them of the bad news. “Due to the second eruption of the Iceland volcano and further disruption to flights, our shipment of Wii stock will be delayed. One of the world’s leading freight forwarders, Expeditors, has advised this morning that, due to the substantial freight shipments that are building up around the world, they are uncertain how quickly the backlog will be cleared.”
Games including the previously mentioned Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (Wii only, PS2 and PSP versions are safe), Puzzle Chronicles and Karaoke Revolution are also now pushed back. Other games may be delayed too depending on how the flights pan out.
Distributors who get their stock from the UK (often with the PEGI rating covered) will be all struck with this problem; others should be fine as the discs are pressed elsewhere and covers printed here.
