Mighty No. 9 delayed until early 2016 to squash some bugs

Keiji Inafune’s Kickstarter success Mighty No. 9 has hit some bugs in development, meaning that the game will miss it’s planned 18th September 2015 release date. The release date has now been changed to the less concrete Q1 2016.

In a post made on the game’s forum (only open to Kickstarter backers), developer Comcept assured that the game “is developed and in a complete state”, all the planned in game content is done. However bugs in the online features have forced a delay from the planned release date.

“…there are still bugs and issues pertaining to the online features that are included in the game. These bugs and issues have a direct effect on enjoyment of the game, so a decision was made to work these issues out before release.”

After Inafune-san’s more recent Kickstarter for Red Ash was shrouded in controversy and ultimate failed to reach it’s Kickstarter goal, this is another unfortunate blow for Comcept.

A delay, for internet functionality in a game that is by and large single player, with all the single player content supposedly complete? Not at all suspicious.

Are they planning online functionality similar to Sim City? Which everyone hated for being compulsory in a franchise that was well known for having offline gameplay?

I must admit that I didn’t know Mighty #9 had online in the first place until this article. Real shame about the delay…
