Nintendo’s mobile games will be 5 different IPs over 5 different genres

We all know Nintendo will have its first mobile game live by the end of the year, what we haven’t known before today is what kind of game it might be.

Sadly today you still won’t find out exactly what game it is but we’ve been given some more clues as to what genre it might be. Speaking the Pocket Gamer Connects San Francisco 2015, CEO of DeNA West Shintaro Asako was asked about their deal with Nintendo and what games would be coming;

I understand some people like RPGs, casual games. That’s why we decided to work together to create five games, hitting on different genre-utilizing IPs.
We want to make sure out of those five IP that we can end up attracting hundreds of millions of people.

Mr Asako also said that while the first game will be out this year it will take until March 2017 for all five games to be released. Nintendo are deliberately moving slowly here to not only make sure the games are great but also get as many people on board.

With that, what do you think will be the first game?

    Isn’t Pokemon Shuffle this years mobile game? If so, that leaves 4 unknown games to be released between 2016 and March 2017.

    I think the novelty of Nintendo’s first real mobile game will give it a buzz but Nintendo have to up their game if they’re going to stand out in the mobile games market. That said, they could use another smash hit to fund their handheld and console game development. I just want it to be connected to their new Club Nintendo v.2 account, how cool it would be something like the Miiverse on smartphones?
