Nintendo now selling Wii U GamePad replacements in Japan

One GamePad, two GamePads, three GamePads, four.

It’s been a long time coming, but Nintendo are finally selling replacement Wii U GamePads seperartly, in Japan at least.

First announced back all the way in 2012, Nintendo will sell you a replacement Wii U Gamepad for the low price of ¥13,284 in Japan or $155AUD – not bad really for a controller with a giant screen in it and all the tech inside.

You can of course pick between white or black but be warned the GamePads are region locked. A Japanese GamePad will only speak to a Japanese console, so no importing this one.

We may never get any games that use a two game GamePads, but at least you can buy a new one if the need be.

I’ve needed a new gamepad since day one, as I happened to get one that has a dodgy left joystick that moves by itself, and is really annoying in the majority of games I play! I hope to be able to get a new one in the near future…in Australia!

      Have you tried re-syncing it?

My Gamepad also had a dodgy left stick that moved by itself… very slightly sometimes but more obvious at others.

So annoying, but Nintendo did offer fix it for me for free.

I would have been without it for several weeks which was unacceptable to me.

So I let the battery completely drain and re-synced it to my Wii U, careful of course not to touch any buttons.

Now the left stick responds works perfectly.
