Games announced for Switch this week – 10/02 – 16/02

Well it’s Friday again, which means it’s time for the weekend and time to game, but it also means it is time to see what games were announced for Nintendo Switch this week. Of course, at the start of the week Tiny Build announced six games for the week, get all the details from that right here, but there were even more announced, so without further adieu, let’s jump in.

Subsurface Circular

Subsurface Circular comes from developer Mike Bithell, a one man studio, who also brought us the wonderful Thomas Was Alone. Here players will get the chance to sci-fi adventure game that is all driven by text. Players will take command of a robot detective, who is looking into the disappearance of robots on a subway system. As you progress, you can earn focus points, which you can then use to unlock little extra clues, helping you get a much more detailed picture of just what a singular robot is doing. The game is out on PC already and thankfully Switch owners need not wait long, as it is coming to us on March 1st

Toki Tori 2+: Nintendo Switch Edition

Two Tribes is a developer that was shutting down, at least according to them, they released the great RIVE last year onto Switch and that was meant to be their last title, which was a shame. But in a press release from Nintendo of Europe, there is a listing for Toki Tori 2+ coming to Nintendo Switch. No other details about what is included in the Switch release, but I would not imagine the content is going to differ greatly from the Wii U release from back in 2013

One Eyed Kutkh

One Eyed Kutkh from Baba Yaga Games is an adventure game, inspired by the Far North, ie Norse mythology, but also set in Space. Players will take on the role of a single traveller who crashes on a mysterious planet, whilst making his way home. In order to continue his journey, he needs to get to the Ninth Heaven, deceive the sun and moon and make off with their fleet of precious space boats.. yeah, it’s out there. Players can look forward to this crazy world on March 9th.

Fear Effect Sedna

Fear Effect is a series with a rich history and the latest game in the series will see its Nintendo debut on Switch. Players will be exposed to a pausable real-time action game. Players will get to interact and control characters from the series older games as they make their way around the world, through tech filled locations like Hong Kong, but also locations covered in myths from the Inuit people. Those new to the series will get to learn about the existing characters, such as Hana, who has been freed from the Triad and now lives with Rain in Hong Kong and works as an occasional mercenary, while Deke has grown apart from them since Glas returned to the US. If that last bit makes no sense to you, then fear not, Fear Effect Sedna is set to release on Nintendo Switch on March 7th.

Manticore – Galaxy on Fire

Deep Silver have announced they are bringing a game to Nintendo Switch, something that is a little rare, but its not a new title, it is a port of a very popular mobile series called Galaxy on Fire, the series has had multiple releases on mobile and the recent entry also hit PC and Macs. Players can look forward to a story, which is expected to take about 8 hours to complete, as they blast their way across the galaxy, or at least 35 parts of it. Players will get the choice to hear the game fully voiced in either English or Japanese, which is strange as its made in Germany, but full support for Joy-Con and HD Rumble is included. No word on a release date yet though.

NORTH

North is coming from publisher Sometimes You, who are also publishing One Eyed Kutkh and has you taking control of a man who seeks asylum in a city filled with strange and bizzare creatures. The game is set to evoke the cyberpunk look, like Blade Runner, but also mixes in messages about the current refugee crisis and combined, players will have to explore the world, solve some basic puzzles and try to achieve asylum. The game is not long at all, but the experience, which is conveyed back to the player via letters the character is sending home to his sister in the south, should really land with a lot of people. The game is expected to release on March 6th

Shift Quantum

For something different, Shift Quantum is coming later this Autumn and will have players attempting to master a mechanic called Shifting, which has you swapping between black on white and white on black, to solve puzzles. The purpose of this is that you are an avatar controlled by the player and you have to guide them out of a maze, that takes place entirely within your own head, The game is a follow-up to the flash game Shift, so those familiar with that, should have an idea of what to expect here. If you want to really get your creative juices going, you can also create your own levels by using the games built in level editor, but with over 100 levels packed in to begin with, you may find yourself

Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut

From the mind of the creator of Peggle and Bejeweled comes the family friendly summer camp game, where you take control of Skullface and attempt to murder all the campers, ok so maybe not so family friendly. In Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut, you will need to slide this adorably demented murderer around hundreds of isometric puzzle levels to squash, flay, and decapitate hapless victims in this darkly comic homage to 80s horror movies. For those who want the younger ones to enjoy the game, a PG mode is included, which strips away all the blood and gore from the game, just leaves in the killing. The game is expected to release in March, but a specific date has not been given yet.

World Conqueror X

Circle Entertainment have announced that World Conqueror X is coming to Nintendo Switch, details on the Switch version are scarce, but we should get more details soon. The game is a war-time strategy game, but it’s unknown if this version will follow the mobile roots of the series and stick to real-time battles. Once we have more details, we will be sure to share them.
