This article is more than 13 years old.
As part of the Wii U’s Virtual Console announcement tonight, Iwata revealed that Nintendo will be running a campaign featuring special ‘trial’ prices for Virtual Console games, with a select few games being available to download for 30 cents each for a short time. The Virtual Console service itself won’t be up until the next system update, but these trials will be available immediately.

The schedule in the Direct is as follows –

  • January – Balloon Fight
  • February – F-Zero
  • March – Punch Out!!
  • April – Kirby’s Adventure
  • May – Super Metroid
  • June – Yoshi
  • July – Donkey Kong

The first game, Balloon Fight, is available right now on Australian Wii Us, so download away!

Even if you’re not really interested in these games – but them anyway. It’s 30c. Then Nintendo will get the message that people will definitely buy them at that price and they’ll release even more!

When compared to the price of a movie ticket, these games will give their moneys worth if you only enjoy them for 5-10 minutes. Instant purchase.

Seriously this is all great stuff to wake up on your birthday to.

Now to screw with choc, apparently the Aussie Wii U VC is 60hz – can you confirm?

Japan get Fire Emblem and Mother 2 in this promotion.

WHY CAN WE NOT HAVE THE NICE THINGS!?!?!
    (its really not that bad)

Can’t say no at that price. $1.40 cheaper to get Super Metroid in May as well. Mother 2 would’ve been nice if only to see why it’s beloved by many.

It is special pricing for 1 month only per game? Or will special pricing for all of these games be until July?
