Nintendo Switch 2 tops 10 million sold, Donkey Kong Bananza opens with 3.49 million

Forecasts for hardware lifted as well.

Nintendo has released its six-month earnings report for the fiscal year ending March 2026, covering the period from July to September 2025. We’ve got an update on how well the Switch 2 is performing, along with new figures for Mario Kart World and the first figures for Donkey Kong Bananza.

Switch 2 hardware sold well, moving 4.54 million units in the quarter and bringing the total number of Switch 2 consoles to 10.36 million. It’s reached 10 million units sold about one quarter faster than the original Switch (with launches roughly aligned). Nintendo lifted its hardware sales forecast from 15 million to 19 million units, but only slightly revised software by 0.5 million. Software for the original Switch, however, was increased.

Mario Kart World also sold 3.94 million units — that figure includes physical sales, bundles, and digital copies. Donkey Kong Bananza opened strongly with 3.49 million units as well; it’ll be interesting to see how it performs over the holidays in the next quarter.

The original Switch continues to slow, and we’re starting to see shifts in which models are selling, with the OLED version showing the biggest decline. The recent price hikes in the US won’t have helped either.

The Switch is now just ~10,000 units behind the sales of the Nintendo DS.

Switch 2 Software Million Sellers Updates

  • Mario Kart World – 9.57m  (up from 5.63m)
  • Donkey Kong Bananza – 3.49m

Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of Super Mario Party Jamboree and Kirby and the Forgotten Land likely won’t ever appear on the charts due to the way Nintendo counts Switch 2 Editions. A physical sale is counted as a Switch 2 release, while a digital sale is counted as a Switch release. Upgrades aren’t included in any public figures unless Nintendo reports them separately.

Drag X Drive didn’t rate a mention.
