Wii U Virtual Console sales announced to celebrate Famicom’s 30th anniversary

As part of the Wii U’s Virtual Console announcement tonight, Iwata revealed that Nintendo will be running a campaign featuring special ‘trial’ prices for Virtual Console games, with a select few games being available to download for 30 cents each for a short time. The Virtual Console service itself won’t be up until the next system update, but these trials will be available immediately.

The schedule in the Direct is as follows –

  • January – Balloon Fight
  • February – F-Zero
  • March – Punch Out!!
  • April – Kirby’s Adventure
  • May – Super Metroid
  • June – Yoshi
  • July – Donkey Kong

The first game, Balloon Fight, is available right now on Australian Wii Us, so download away!
