Ubisoft have thrown Wii U owners an olive branch today announcing that they’ll get exclusive access to the Rayman Legends online challenge mode this April, for free.  The news comes via a video posted to Facebook in which Rayman Legends game designer Michael Micholic and creative director Michel Ancel not only announce the free title, but respond to the delay.

“We just wanted to reach out and let you know how truly humbled we were by the outpouring of support from the community and fans about the announcement of the delay of Rayman Legends,” said Micholic. “It definitely hurt us to see you guys so upset by the delay.”

“We know you guys just want to play the game as soon as possible, so what we’re going to do is release the full online challenge mode exclusively to Wii U fans.”  said Micholic.

The Rayman Legends online challenge mode will contain weekly and even daily multiplayer challenges, all of which will have online leader boards so you can see where you place in the world and among your friends. You’ll be able to race against your friends too with ghosts.

Like the full game, it will also support up to five players and as a bonus an exclusive mode for the Wii U that won’t feature on the other consoles.

The game will be available on the Wii U eShop sometime in April and will be free.

The full Rayman Legends titles will be available in September.
