Nintendo Wii Video service is launching May 1st in Japan, its free and can work on your DSi too.
Nintendo has pulled back the curtains on its Wii Video Service and it’s ready to go, available on Japanese Wii’s on May 1st. The service though just doesn’t work on the Wii but, DSi owners will be able to pull content onto their DSi’s to take on the go. The service will come in the form of a new channel which is a laid out as a Virtual living room. The room can be populated with your Mii characters and when you are ready to watch videos, click on the TV to do so.
What will be available to watch on this video service? Even though it’s just a few weeks out, Nintendo hasn’t revealed anything, however several celebrities will be working with the big N to present special programs created just for the service. Another part of the service is the DSi side of things. The channel on the Wii will link up to the Nintendo DSi, which will also have its own application to transfer the videos over. This application will also be available May 1st in Japan. Nintendo hasn’t announced plans to release this video service outside of Japan, but maybe we’ll see something at E3.
