The NPD results for America in January have been released and it has shaken up this week, as shortages on many systems play havoc with the placing. However, that didnt stop the Wii being on top with 274,000 consoles sold. Secondly was the Playstation 3. Yes, the shiny black console has snuck up into second position, only just being beaten by the Wii, hitting 270,000. The evergreen PS2 took third with 265,000. More inside
The DS in obvious short supply, was 4th on 252,000 and the PSP on 230,000. Bottoming out and not surprising after Microsoft issues a press release, the Xbox 360 comes in last at 229,000. Software was also to Nintendo’s favour with the Wii and DS claiming 5 out of the Top ten. Nintendos top selling game was Wii Play on 298,000 sales, now reaching 4.4 million. Guitar Hero III, despite its mono problem continues to sell its way to 3rd place, Mario Galaxy on 4th. Mario Party in 9th and Sonic and Mario at the Olympics games finished up on 10th.

Sadly, it seems that Carnival Games has now sold 655,000 copies. Sure that not bad itself but when you have Metroid Prime 3 Corruption on 626,000 its a bit worrying.
