Wii reaches 500,000 units down under, new titles dated
The Wii has now passed the 500,000 mark down under and in doing so has broken the record for the fasting selling console to reach that number. According to Nintendo and GfK Australia figures the Wii has taken 84 weeks since its launch in December 2006 to reach the mark. The previous console (which is unnamed, but we assume it’s the Gameboy Advance or PS2) took 107 weeks to reach the same amount. More inside The DS is also powering along now at 1.2 million units and in the week commencing 6th of July sold through 49,000, the biggest sell through for DS units in Australia and the largest ever sell through for any console in Australia. Nintendo Australia have also released a bunch of new release dates which you can find below.
