Independent game developers WayForward, creators of the cult favourite Shantae, have announced LIT for the WiiWare service. The puzzle game is set to the backdrop of a darkened high school overrun by creatures. The game puts you in the role of Jake, a student from the school as he escapes through the school’s rooms to find his girlfriend. To advance in the game you must use what light you have available to create safe paths through the class rooms. More inside Wayforward says that “”It’s incredibly exciting to be working on an original game for the WiiWare platform, After settling on the concept of light vs. shadows, a horror theme seemed to make sense.
The team prepared for the title by developing a creepy horror demo for the Nintendo DS. They also say that they decided to make the game an action/puzzle because of the two genres never really being combined before. The challenge of squeezing out the greatest amount of gameplay from the limited WiiWare file size was also a good motivation.
