Now, we all know that Nintendo are all for ‘broadening audiences’ and expanding their user base, but I didn’t think we would be seeing the US Military using Wii Remotes to destroy explosives. The controllers have been adapted to work with the Packbot robot that can locate landmines and explosives as well as disposing of bombs. More inside The accelerometers in the Wii-remote which give it the motion-sensing capabilities make it easier to control the robot in combat conditions. I’m all for bomb-disposal robots, but I don’t know what Nintendo’s response would be.
