Ubisoft bets on Wii, wants to beat EA.

by Daniel VuckovicOctober 5, 2006

In an interview with Reuters, Ubisoft North America’s head honcho, Laurent Detoc, has revealed that Ubisoft is making a big bet that the Nintendo Wii will be a run away success. Ubisoft has 8 games scheduled for launch, all of which will be available on December 7th when the Wii launches in Australia.

More Inside And while EA owns 20% of Ubisoft, it is not stopping Ubisoft from trying to increase its No.4 position in the world. Detoc noted that “”our goal is not to sell to EA, but to beat EA.”” Ubisoft hopes to do this by making a early investment in the Wii. Typically, third party games and new franchises have a better chance of success if released at a consoles launch.
