Tell him he’s dreaming: What would an Australian Special Edition Switch look like?

It’s Australia Day! Hopefully you’ve found a nice place to park your bum, relax and do whatever you want to do. Just don’t over do it – you’ve got work tomorrow right?

Now more than ever the Australian flag is plastered on any number of products, cups, plates, hats, flags for cars, thongs, the other thongs and even dog jackets. So why has it been nearly 20 years since we got a Nintendo console with an Aussie flavour?

19 years ago Nintendo released this precious gem, the Limited Edition Green and Gold Neotones Game Boy Color!

The only thing not Australian about it is the spelling of colour, even Olympian Michael Klim’s face adorns the box. So it’s got Australia, the flag, a sports person and it’s green and gold. How much more Aussie can you get? (Well it could not be a product made in Japan, by a Japanese company – Ed)

So what would an Australian console look like today? Well it could look like this…

Ugh gross! It’s a bit jingoistic isn’t it? Maybe we should all send the Queen our regards. La-di-da!

How about instead we take the great, if not a little garish Neotones Game Boy Color and make some special edition Joy-Cons for the Switch? Wouldn’t that be a cool world to live in?
