Super Mario Odyssey the fastest selling Mario game ever in Europe and America (Update: Australia too)

Nintendo has announced some early sales data for Super Mario Odyssey from around the world.

Nintendo of America says that Odyssey has sold 1.1 million copies in its first five days on sale. This not only makes it the fastest selling Switch game in the US but the fastest-selling Super Mario game ever there as well.

 In just five days, the new Super Mario Odyssey video game for the Nintendo Switch system sold more than 1.1 million units in the U.S. alone. That makes it the fastest-selling Super Mario game ever in the U.S., surpassing the New Super Mario Bros. Wii game. Super Mario Odyssey is also the fastest-selling game so far for Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo of Europe has also shared some information about sales from their region as well. Odyssey is the fastest-selling Super Mario game ever in Europe now too. It surpassed the opening weekend sales of even Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Update: Nintendo Australia has chimed in and told us that it’s also the fastest-selling Super Mario game in Australia too!

News from Japan too, Super Mario Odyssey has had the best first week of any 3D Mario game ever in the country. That’s more than even Super Mario 64!
