StreetPass and Miiverse given the boot on Switch

Nintendo has confirmed that the much loved StreetPass and Miiverse won’t be returning on the Switch.

Nintendo of America’s assistant manager of public relations has told VentureBeat that both services aren’t making their way to the new console. Stuck forever on the Wii U and 3DS.

I can answer that we’re not going to be using Miiverse for Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo says that instead the share button will be used to post to social media, which platforms haven’t been announced but its safe to say at least Facebook and Twitter would be there.

The lack of StreetPass is a little different, Nintendo says its not getting it because its a home console. You can play it outside the house but Nintendo obviously sees it a little different to the Nintendo 3DS. Perhaps leaving the system in that sort of aware standby would drain the already limited battery life.

It’s unlikely Nintendo will close Miiverse off just yet as it still works on the 3DS and Wii U, but its long term life now hangs under a cloud.

I am surprised by this. Ditching Strretpass makes sense like described in the article, but surely Miiverse wouldn’t be hard to keep going. It’s a touchscreen tablet after all. Kinda sucks, even though Miiverse isn’t much chop now compared to its early days.

It’s also comprehensive, because Miiplaza coming to Switch it will kill 3DS quickly probably
They must see the public reaction to Switch,a future update could bring it
    Don’t forget there’s more the 50 million 3DS around
