Ubisoft has been kind enough to let us know about the Australia release of Arkanoid DS and Space Invaders EXTREME for the DS and PSP. As part of its distribution agreement with Square-Enix, who is the original publishers of the game, they are bringing the remixed retro games to Australia, New Zealand France, Benelux and the Nordic territories (including Iceland) this winter. Space Invaders EXTREME (Yes, they demand we spell it that way) remixes the old classic game with a new home of futuristic graphics and Lumines-esque audio. More inside Arkanoid DS, again like Space Invaders, updates the game with different modes as well as a new lick of paint. The game also contains a fair amount of unlockables. Sadly, it looks like the Paddle controller that plugs into the Gameboy Advance slot of the Nintendo DS will be missing the boat for Australia. It is still supported in the game, but its not included.
Both games also take advantage of Nintendo Wifi Connection as well as download play for multiplayer fun.
