Sledgehammer dodges question of Call of Duty on the Wii U, says the franchise ‘transcends entertainment’

That’s ok - we wanted real entertainment on the Wii U anyway.

In a Gameindustry interview with one of Sledgehammer’s founders Michael Condrey there is nothing but praise for the ever prolific franchise. Surprisingly there seems no grudge towards Activision after having their own Call of Duty game scrapped in favour of helping Infinity Ward on another Modern Warfare (MW3) title. Condrey even goes so far as to say that Call of Duty sort of transcends entertainment in such a massive way. Not sure what that means? Don’t worry, we don’t think anybody is.

Explosions and guns! TRULY TRANSCENDENT.

The interesting part is that when Gameindustry mentions the next generation of consoles, specifically the Wii U, Condrey makes a generic comment about the benefits and downfalls of developing for a new generation of consoles. His slant seems quite negative towards developing on the new consoles, which has given some Call Of Duty fans cause to worry about the future of their beloved title. However it isn’t like Activision to not want money, so speculation stands that these are probably just his personal views rather than a true indication of the franchises future.

How do you feel about Mr. Condrey’s comments? Let us know in the comments.

Gamer, geek, artist & all round swell lady. Video games first sparked a passion with me when my parents decided I wasn't allowed them, forbidden fruit always being the sweetest I've not looked back since my first experiences even though they had to be snuck in at friend's houses. I'm currently a Croupier by trade, and when I'm not doing that or playing games I'm usually drawing, or writing about games, while secretly resenting that when I turned ten no one gave me a Charmander to roam the land with.
