Skylanders Giants for the 3DS will be “completely different” from the Wii version

Don't worry, it'll still have toys!

Easily the biggest surprise of last year was that Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, a seemingly gimmicky marketing concept, came out and sold by the bucketload. Now, with the sequel, Skylanders Giants hitting all consoles sometime later this year, many have shown they were a little bit worried by the notably vague description in the PR which didn’t specifically mention 3DS.

Now, in an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine (UK), Alex Ness, the producer for the game at development studio Toys for Bob has confirmed that a 3DS version is indeed in the works, and that it will apparently be quite different from it’s Wii brethren.
I don’t know too much about the 3DS version of Skylanders Giants, but I do know it will be a completely different game than the Wii version – just like it was with Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure. And also just like Spyro’s Adventure, all Skylander toys will work in both games and remember all their adventures.
Mr. Ness also discussed the possibilities of bringing the franchise to the Wii U, but of course nothing solid or concrete has been confirmed

Skylanders Giants does not currently have a scheduled release date, but we know it’s coming this year. We’ll keep you updated.
