Today was Nintendo’s 78th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders and Tatsumi Kimishima has officially stood down as president of the company. The previously announced Shuntaro Furukawa is now in charge.

Furukawa is just the sixth president Nintendo has had since 1889, previous presidents being Tatsumi Kimishima, Satoru Iwata, Hiroshi Yamauchi, Sekiryo Kaneda and Fusajiro Yamauchi.

Furukawa said during the investor Q&A that as a company they will continue to move with the times, but also to keep people smiling while being original and flexible.

Kimishima also had to say that although he was appointed president only because of the sudden death of Satoru Iwata, he got the support of many people and the Switch launch was a success. He said it was no better time to retire and thanked everyone.
