The 3DS releasing in just over 6 months from now? Apparently so.

This is a surprise if true but according to sources speaking to UK site CVG the new Nintendo 3DS is just six months away and will be out in the UK in October, months before Christmas. Previously Nintendo has said they were planning to launch the console sometime before March 2011 in the brief press release the company issued to announce it.

The Nintendo 3DS will now go head to head at Christmas with Natal and Move, two other ‘new’ pieces of hardware these holidays. This news comes out of nowhere as the current Nintendo DS series is selling quite well in Europe (well relatively) in the US and here in Australia.

The Nintendo 3DS is Nintendo’s next handheld and will allow you to play 3D (you know like Avatar 3D) games on the move without the need for glasses.

Could this move to release the console be a move to strike on the piracy that is hitting the console in the UK?

Common belief was that the Nintendo 3DS would launch in Japan first as the console is older there and selling not as well as it used to, with the rest of the world to follow.

Keep this one firmly in the rumour corner for now, but E3 is continuing to shape up to be even more surprising.
