Capcom are hoping to wring every drop of visual performance out of the Wii with their upcoming rail-shooter and re-telling of Resident Evil 2.
Developers ‘Cavia’ are hoping to attain the best visuals yet seen on the Wii, and will push for technically-improved visuals as well as a dark atmospheric approach to the game’s art design. "One of the things we thought we needed to achieve was a near-360 level of graphics” said Kentaro Naguchi in an interview with Kotaku’s Brian Crecente.
The game will incorporate HDR lighting technology and filtering effects not often utilised on games for the Wii, alongside the Havok Physics engine in attempt to better realise the dark gritty world of Raccoon City in the wake of a zombie outbreak. Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles follows the direction 2007’s Umbrella Chronicles took in re-telling previous RE entries through an on-rails shooter adventure.
