The PlayStation 4 launched last weekend, you may have heard of it. It’s become the fast selling console in UK history.
It’s also outsold the Wii U sales in the UK lifetime to date. In one weekend Nintendo’s ‘lead’ in the country has been reduced to nothing as not only did the PS4 outsell the Wii U, but the Xbox One as well.
To make things worse, Knack – a charming looking but hasn’t been well received game outsold Super Mario 3D World. Knack was 13th on the charts, Mario 14th. One thing we can take solace in, Knack was bundled with PS4 consoles so a lot of people would have had no choice to buy the game as well.
Nintendo will have to continue to work hard with the Wii U in the UK, just like the rest of Europe. Any advantage Nintendo had launching a year early is gone.
