Currently the only Prince of Persia game that’s come out for Wii was Rival Swords, a waggle version of Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, with the 2008 reboot of the series skipping the console for power reasons. However, the latest instalment The Forgotten Sands is arriving on every platform conceivable, and has a specialized Wii version. Just like with Red Steel 2, Ubisoft have started a dev diaries video series for the game. The first entry gives a great overview of what makes the Wii version special, which you can see below.
As shown, Wii Remote and Nunchuk motion controls are used for combat, with the pointer responsible for the three mentioned special abilities. A co-op mode was also described with appears to be very similar to that which was featured in Super Mario Galaxy. The overall graphical style seems quite nice, although there are a few textures that seem iffy around the place.
Still, if they can manage to bring back the essence of the superb Prince of Persia: Sands of Time in this game we’re in for quite a treat.
STALKER, Clock Tower, Shadows of the Damned, and more.
