New poll reveals that Japanese people arent keen on Nintendos next handheld just yet.

We only know its name and the fact that youll be able to play in 3D without stupid glasses, but someone has seen fit to ask a sample of the japanese populance what they think about the Nintendo 3DS.

Japanese research agency, goo Research, has polled 1,059 people in its monitor group about consumer electronics. So not a huge number by any stretch, but stick with it. The sample group was mainly male, but gathered from a wide range of demographics; from teens to people older than 50.

But it gets better. 42.1% of people sampled already own one of the current DS models (or any combintation) and those people were asked "Would you like to get the recently-announced Nintendo 3DS, featuring 3D that doesnt require special glasses?". The results were as such:

• Want to buy: 8.8%
• Interested in it, but currently dont want it: 55.8%
• Dont want it: 35.3%

The small sample of people means this isnt everyone in Japan (far from it) but like all surveys, it is a fair cross-section of the community. Perhaps the results will change once weve actaully seen the device and its games.
