Pokmon boss says Gold and Silver were meant be the end of the Pokmon games

Heres an odd one to be sure. In the latest Iwata Asks feature which covers Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Pokémon Company boss Tsunekazu Ishihara has revealed that Pokémon Gold and Silver (the originals) were intended to be the last games in the series. "I worked with the assumption that after we put out Gold and Silver, my work as far as Pokémon was concerned would be done," said Ishihara. "I didnt intend to make any more Pokémon titles. I even thought that once we entered the twenty-first century, it would be time for me to do something else entirely."

His sense of completion was so great that he felt that a "burden had finally been lifted from [his] shoulders". He also stated very early on, Gold and Silver had been set as a finish line, and now that the series was completed, he felt he had fulfilled his duty.

So why more Pokémon games? Well Pokémon Gold and Silver sold a ton-load obviously. They sold even faster than Red or Green did.
