Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2 out October 11th for Australia and New Zealand

Pokémon fans, the date you’ve been waiting for is here. Nintendo Australia has announced the Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 will be released in Australia and New Zealand on October 11th. Just a couple of days after the American release, what a great date.

Truly the last big Nintendo DS game.

The Pokémon Dream Radar game on the Nintendo 3DS eShop will also be released on the same day and despite the platform difference will allow you to catch some rare and popular Pokémon and transfer them into Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2.

Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 are the first numbered sequel to a mainline Pokémon. You return to the Unova region from the first games but this is no simple retread of the last games. The region has changed in 7 years and there is an entirely new story, new areas to explore.

Thankfully there isn’t a ton of new Pokemon but unlike the last game classic Pokemon from other regions are available from the outset.

Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 also debuts the Pokémon World Tournament. It’s an in game tournament that will place you in battle with numerous Gym Leaders and Champions from previous Pokémon video games. Great trainers such Lance, Champion from the Johto region, and Volkner, Gym Leader from the Sinnoh region make an appearance among others.

Many doubted Nintendo’s move to release these titles on the Nintendo DS (Dream Radar excluded). However sales of the game have been phenomenal in Japan even though it’s on the Nintendo DS there will still be a lot of people playing it on the 3D (in 2D naturally). Dream Radar is a great ‘bridge’ to get people to play it on the Nintendo 3DS as well.

Although this game takes place in a familiar region, there are many new areas to discover, and changes to familiar places for you to explore. One new area is Virbank City, home to Pokéstar Studios. Players will be able to visit Pokéstar Studios and star in their own movie with their favourite Pokémon. The movie a player creates premieres at the in-game theatre, where the audience gives it a rating. If a movie does well, players can make additional movies or even create sequels to existing movies. There are many movie genres to choose from, including romance, comedy and horror.

The Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 games will also give fans of the original games a chance to catch up with some familiar friends. In this game, Cheren and Bianca return in new roles. Bianca is now the assistant to Professor Juniper, helping her with Pokémon research and Cheren is now a Gym Leader and a teacher at a school in Aspertia City – the starting location for this adventure.

In these games, players will also be able to catch Pokémon from outside the Unova region − such as Eevee, Riolu, Tyranitar, Arcanine and Mareep− right from the start of the game.

In addition, Nintendo has revealed new information about the Pokémon World Tournament that debuts in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2. Enter the Pokémon World Tournament, an exciting battle arena where players can challenge numerous Gym Leaders and Champions from previous Pokémon video games. Fans of the series will be able to battle trainers like Lance, Champion from the Johto region, and Volkner, Gym Leader from the Sinnoh region. Players can also use a variety of battle styles and moves found in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 against these classic opponents.

If playing on Nintendo 3DS, players can also transfer Pokémon they have caught with the Pokémon Dream Radar game into their Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 games. The Pokémon Dream Radar game lets players use several different features of the Nintendo 3DS system, including the Nintendo 3DS camera, motion control and augmented-reality technology, to discover and catch Pokémon, many with special hidden abilities. Players can also catch hard-to-find Pokémon such as the new Therian Formes of Legendary Pokémon Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus.

Also launching later this Spring for purchase on the Nintendo eShop, the new Pokédex 3D Pro application for Nintendo 3DS allows players to learn all about their favourite Pokémon. This enhanced and upgraded version of the original Pokédex 3D includes detailed information on over 640 Pokémon! The Pokédex 3D Pro application includes in-depth sorting, comparison and ranking tools, as well as comprehensive details on what abilities each Pokémon can learn and how it evolves. Players can also take photos of Pokémon in the real world through its unique use of Augmented Reality Viewer.
