The World of Nintendo comes to PAX Aus!

PAX Aus turned 4 this year and Nintendo fans flew to Melbourne from all corners of the world to celebrate their love of video games! For the full album, head over to Vooks on Facebook.

Straight outta Hyrule, I was lucky enough to meet the cutest Link cosplayer I’ve ever seen. She looked gorgeous in her tunic/dress and boots and was more than happy to pose for the camera. A big thank you to her lovely parents who were really friendly and are most certainly bringing up their daughter correctly.

Well excuuuuuuuse me, Skull Kid! Check out these cool, casual cosplayers and their awesome take on some of their favourite Nintendo characters.

I also ran into another awesome Link cosplayer, who had teamed up with Edea Lee from the Nintendo 3DS Bravely Default series. What an unstoppable duo they make!

Speaking of unstoppable duos, if I had to choose a couple of cosplayers to battle Team Rocket, I’d choose these two!

And where there’s a rare and valuable Pokémon like Pikachu, there’s always Team Rocket preparing for trouble.

Fear not, because there were a number of Ash Ketchum cosplayers vying for the chance to be the very best!

From the faraway Mushroom Kingdom, a whole host of Super Mario Bros. fans were found jumping throughout the convention halls.

For the fourth year and fourth PAX Aus in a row, I ran into cosplayer Fullmetal Alchemist (aka Josh) and it really was one of the highlights of my weekend. I hope I see you (and Luigi) again next year so we can make it five in a row, Josh!

There’s always a lot of love from Luigi fans at PAX who are always so ready to pose in funny ways with absolutely no direction from me. This guy made me laugh a lot and was a real treat to meet.

It’s-a-him, Mario! I will never get tired of seeing cosplayers proudly proclaiming their love for one of gaming’s most popular and beloved characters of all time.

The Mario Bros. didn’t come alone, though. Princesses Rosalina and Peach made it to Melbourne, their shiny crowns sitting atop their perfect blonde hair and capping off their royal outfits and sparkly accessories.

Thanks to Nintendo, the real Mario and Luigi even showed up and demonstrated that even with their busy work of stomping on Goombas and rescuing princesses, they still have time to bust out their favourite rapper hand poses…

And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, I noticed I was being stared down by Meta Knight! Seeing her standing very still and wielding her sacred sword Galaxia was too much to handle, so I quickly took the below photo before running off to find a hero to help me…

Luckily, I ran into this Pink Villager cosplayer who was used to battling Meta Knight in Super Smash Bros. and she kept me safe!

I love seeing Nintendo fans cosplaying as different and lesser-known characters. Apart from Meta Knight above, this hilarious and brilliant cosplay of Mr. Game & Watch was one of my favourites this year. I absolutely love the attention to detail and creativity that went into this one!

And just when I thought I had seen it all, I ran into these Zelda fans late on Sunday who had obviously put an enormous amount of time into their cosplay of popular characters Skull Kid, Link and Ganondorf. What a wonderful way to end my PAX Aus experience!

Thanks for reading! Remember to head over to Vooks on Facebook for the full photo album.

Can’t wait to see you all again next year at the 5th anniversary of PAX Aus!
