Online tournaments headed to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Both unofficial and official.

Nintendo has confirmed that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will have the same sort of comprehensive online tournaments at Mario Kart 8. Not only that but Nintendo themselves will be holding tournaments themselves in the game.

This mode won’t be available on launch giving you enough time to train up before you take on the world. You can create up to two tournaments at a time and customise the games as much as you like.  Up to 64 players can take part in the tournament and if you miss out on a spot you can watch replays of all the matches.

We wouldn’t expect this mode to be released until next year, maybe around the same time as Mewtwo drops.

We’ve included the full presentation below.
