The designer behind Smash Bros. and upcoming 3DS title Kid Icarus Uprising claims that its hard to go back to 2D after making games in 3D

Masahiro Sakurai spoke with the Aussie wing of the Official Nintendo Magazine described his thoughts on the entertainment-consuming public’s adaptation to new technology across various media. He said that the more people play games or watch movies in 3D, the novelty wears off and viewers accept it as the norm- "Thats the nature of the way we get used to things as they become familiar. The problem is that when you go back to 2D after 3D it feel sflat. So in terms of game development I would think that going back to 2D after working on a 3D project may be very difficult for me."

Sakurai’s upcoming Kid Icarus Uprising is likely to be one the games that benefits most from the 3DS’ innovative new display. There’s plenty of high flying action gameplay that will take advantage of the extra depth of field provided by the 3D screen, and the game will be one of the first major titles that gamers will play by the millions when the 3DS releases sometime in the next 6 months.
