Nintendo UK launches online store

Nintendo UK has launched a new online store offering a selection of games, consoles and gifts. Following on in the footsteps of the American online retail store, the UK store offers products primarily developed, published, and distributed by Nintendo.

The store currently features a wide range of Wii U and 3DS bundles, and even the exclusive Wii Mini. A neat pre-order deal worthy of mention is for a set of Legend of Zelda strategy guides.

Pricing is as expected – the full recommended price, with few promotional offers in sight. One exception is a pre-order deal for a limited edition Pokémon X & Y 3DS XL bundle – coming in at £199.99 (a saving of £20).

Costs and timing of delivery are based on the profile and pricing of the product purchased, with some items including free next day shipping. New online stores are yet to launch in other European countries.

This launch raises the question – will an online Nintendo store ever open its doors here in Australia? Let us know what you think.

Even if Nintendo Australia does set up an online store, it’s hard to get enthusiastic about the idea given the way Club Nintendo has been handled.

I’m inclined to agree with Super. Over the years, I’ve learned that if Nintendo Australia is involved, it’s probably best not to get excited.

Haven’t some sections of the website been ‘under construction’ for years now?
