The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection is about to change according to Nintendo project leader Takashi Aoyama. An announcement was made during the Game Developers Conference that Nintendo will introduce a “”Pay to Play”” method of online gaming. To ensure customers understand the new system “”Pay to Play”” games will be represented by red stickers, replacing the blue sticker that is representative of free games. More inside Wii Points will be used to pay for the games and it is expected that this could in preparation for MMO titles coming to the Wii. Alternatively it may allow for some titles to have dedicated servers, allowing for voice chat and in-depth stat tracking amongst other things.
