Confirmed numbers for opening weekend sales for the Nintendo Switch have now been released by Famitsu. For the first three days on sale the Nintendo Switch sold through 331,000 units. Numbers for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild were also confirmed as selling through 193,000 units. This also makes it the best selling home console debut for Zelda, but only just. Skyward Sword sold through 195,000 units – it was close.

So why does it seem that 42% of Switch buyers didn’t nab Breath of the Wild? Well it might be a little more with digital figures not included in these results, but it does seem a little odd.

With these numbers this puts the Switch above the PlayStation 4 (331,000), PlayStation Vita (321,000) and of course the Wii U at 309,000 units on opening week sales.
