Nintendo have shed some new light on the Wii Message Board set to be part of the Wii Channels features on the upcoming Wii console. The Wii Message Board will allow family members to interact with one another by leaving messages on the Message Board that can be read by other’s. The Message Board will also be utilised by games. For example, if playing Animal Crossing, a message might be posted informing users that a concert is scheduled in the coming days.

Nintendo also revealed that when the Wii is online, the option to interact with friends from all over the world is possible. As an example, Nintendo stated that when you buy a new game, you will have the option of informing friends that you have just purchased the new game.

Nintendo also revealed that by using the Message Board, you will be able to exchange screenshots, and send emails to computers, phones, and other email devices.

Takami, one of the creators of Animal Crossing, noted “”I envision the Message Board helping everyone in the family communicate with each other. These days, because everyone is so busy, it is becoming more and more difficult for people to take the time to sit around the table and chat””.

Nintendo also disclosed information about a new feature called ‘Play History’. This feature records how long you play each game. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata commented that “”in the future, we could make it possible to plot on a graph how much you’ve played. Also, with users’ cooperation, we could compile data on which game was the most played that year.””
