by Josh MouldsMarch 19, 2009

Nintendo is pushing developers to extend beyond just games when producing downloadable software for sale over the DSiWare service. In a meeting with developers in London, the Big N touted the range of opportunities presented by the built-in microphone and cameras on the upcoming handheld. The DSi is heavily personalisable and is likely to receive an assortment of software such as daily organizers, multimedia apps and web browsers. More inside One need only look at the success of the iPhone and the extensive array of touch-based applications it offers to understand that Nintendo wouldnt mind a piece of that pie. Nintendo is remaining coy about what software will be available when the handheld launches on April 2nd, but members present at the meeting indicated they are keen to have as large a catalogue as possible available on the day the DSi is available.
