Nintendo announces a new Switch charging stand for tabletop mode

Tabletop mode is a great way to play games on your Switch, but it comes with a couple of drawbacks. The limited viewing angle and the inability to charge while playing make Tabletop mode unfeasible in many situations. But Nintendo has a solution, and it’s a pretty cheap one too.

Announced by Nintendo today, the Adjustable Charging Stand is a small and compact stand that offers multiple viewing angles and charges your Switch while you play. It’s a nice little piece of kit, and it should make gaming on the go just that little bit nicer.

The best part? It’s only $29.95. The Adjustable Charging Stand will be available for purchase from the 13th of July. You can read the full PR below.

Launching on 13th July at a suggested retail price of AU$29.95, a new adjustable charging stand for the Nintendo Switch system makes playing in Tabletop mode easier than ever. With a handy port for an AC adapter on the side, the Nintendo Switch Adjustable Charging Stand allows the Nintendo Switch system to be charging while in Tabletop mode, enabling longer play sessions.

The angle of the stand can also be adjusted to create the best viewing angle for different environments.

Nintendo Switch can be played in three modes: TV mode, Handheld mode and Tabletop mode. Tabletop mode lets players set up the Nintendo Switch system to play games on the go without the need for a TV. The compact and sturdy stand will work with any flat surface, like a tray table on an airplane, or a dorm room desk. While not required, the adjustable charging stand makes playing in Tabletop mode more convenient.

Love the product!! I’m presuming it doesn’t come with a AC adapter from what it’s description says which sucks though.

No charging cable = no buy. Still balking at the price of an official AC adapter

It’s rather unnecessary. If I wanted to commit to a long on-the-go gameplay session (i.e. 2 hours or more) and needed a power source, then there would almost certainly be a TV nearby anyway. Plus, a full charge is sufficient for quick multiplayer sessions for all but Monopoly. 😛 At first glance, the PR spin makes this accessory seem a lot more useful and practical than it really is.
