In a new interview Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed that he doesnt expect the next revolution in video game consoles both handheld and home to hit for at least 10 years. Using previous consoles as a example Miyamoto said going from the NES to the Super NES was more of a refinement, and going from the Super NES to the Nintendo 64 was more of a big advancement. More inside He concluded that by going by that previous standard I would guess that we would see some refinement sometime in the next five to 10 years and then in another five to 10 years, you would see probably the next big evolution. The Wii and the DS have shaken up the game market, but it seems Miyamoto thinks we wont see another one for a while yet.
