New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe’s A button spin jump can be turned off
When we reviewed New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe earlier this month we didn’t have too many complaints from a gameplay point, aside from one.
Nintendo added a new way to spin jump in the game, and that was to press A mid-jump. You could still tap a shoulder button still, but this seems silly change (that you couldn’t turn off) mucked with the game’s legendary platforming.
Well now someone has found a way to turn it off.
Reddit user MetallicFear1 has discovered that if you hold down the L Stick for 3 seconds, then press L + R on the title screen, you’ll get a cheer from Nabbit and find the A button no longer lets you spin jump.
Why something which should have just been a menu option (or not included at all) is so obtuse we’ll never know.
To recap, hold the L Stick down on the screen below for three seconds then press L + R.
