New Super Mario Bros boosts Wii sales in Japan
Slump over? Wii sales boosted by the fat Italian plumbers console return. DS also does well
Wii Sales have gotten a pretty big boost thanks to the launch of New Super Mario Bros Wii in Japan, with console sales doubling on previous weeks, bringing it up to 106,555 units sold. It’s good news for Nintendo which has seen Wii sales in Japan slump this year and fall below the PS3 after its ‘slim’ relaunch earlier in the year.
The DS is also doing well with the DSi LL (XL in the west) and the normal DSi selling on close to par with each other at 53,791 for the DSi LL and 51,635 for the DSi. The DS Lite is still selling well, too, with 8,367 sold. That’s more than the PSP Go, although the normal PSP is still selling well.
Can Mario keep the Wii sales in Japan afloat? Or will we see a tumble next week?
