Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee and Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu are just around the corner, coming out in a little over two months. But there’s still so much more to learn about these GO-inspired Switch games.

A new trailer released today by The Pokémon Company shows off a tonne of new things. Among them is details of how HM moves will be replaced by special moves called Secret Techniques. Secret Techniques are field moves that your partner Pokémon — either Eevee or Pikachu — can learn, but these moves don’t take up spaces in your moveset and aren’t usable in battle. Instead, they perform the function of HM moves when you’re in the field. Here’s the description from the Pokémon website:

Secret Techniques are special skills your partner learns that can be used outside of battle. Clear away troublesome trees with Chop Down, or glide across the water with Sea Skim. Sky Dash allows you to quickly revisit towns and cities you’ve been to before. Your partner will make exploring the Kanto region easy as you continue on your adventure!

Also revealed in today’s trailer were a set of new moves only learnable by partner Pikachu and Eevee. These moves also don’t seem to take up spaces in your moveset, and instead are activated by shaking the Joy-Con when a special icon appears.

As you shower your partner with love, it’ll sometimes send you a sign during battle. Wave your detached Joy-Con when the partner sign appears to have your partner use its special partner power. Your partner may even send you a sign when it’s not the one battling. If you respond, it’ll cheer on the Pokémon in battle by boosting its stats!

And of course, the sprawling metropolis of Celadon City gets the spotlight, with the Grass Gym Leader Erika getting an all new look. But why not take a look for yourself in the trailer below? And in case you missed it, a Pokémon Let’s Go Special Edition Switch bundle complete with two new Joy-Con colours was also announced, which you can check out by clicking here.
