New Nintendo president grew up with the Famicom, will balance Nintendo’s traditions

Nintendo earlier today announced that current Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima was stepping down from the role, to be succeeded by Shuntaro Furukawa.

Mr. Furukawa has spoken to the press already today and revealed what he plans to do in the role and a little about himself.

We will develop the company to its fullest. I will balance Nintendo’s traditions: originality and flexibility.

Mr. Furukawa seems rather straight to the point as well saying;

I grew up playing the Famicom and come from that generation. Now as a member of management with Super Mario’s creator Shigeru Miyamoto, I have a lot of respect for him. On the other hand, with this new job that can’t just be it, so I expect to say what needs to be said to run the company.

Sounds like a fresh guy.
