New Cadence of Hyrule update adds achievements and colour blind assist mode

Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer featuring The Legend of Zelda, an amazing Zelda spin-off made by Brace Yourself Games, launched in June during E3, and now it’s gotten a new update.

The 1.0.2 update for Cadence of Hyrule — which is available to download now — adds a small host of new features, including leaderboards for 2-player mode, a colour blind assist mode, and achievements. It’s also fixed a few bugs, adjust the balance a little bit, and lets you view the game’s credits from the title screen. Neat!

Achievements are probably the big new feature here, with 32 mysterious achievements to, uh, achieve. They’re hidden until you unlock them, and they don’t apply to existing save files that may have already knocked them off, so we don’t quite know what they are yet.

The colour blind assist feature is also a welcome addition. The changes only apply to the UI, so it’s not a major overhaul — though it’s not really a game that relies too much on colour in the first place.

As you can see, it’s a fairly subtle change, but as someone who is severely colour blind, changing the red item stamina bars to a more visible colour and outlining the hearts is a huge quality of life update.

Thanks to Japanese Nintendo for bringing this to our attention.
