Rapid fire Virtual Console trials coming your way.
Nintendo is preparing to add more value to every amiibo figure by allowing figures to unlock ‘ famous scenes’ of Virtual Console games to played when the figures are touched to the GamePad.
When you scan the amiibo you’ll be able to play different (per figure) NES and SNES games on the Wii U, no word on Nintendo 3DS support. You won’t unlock the entire game, nor will you be able to play it forever – expect to see similar to what’s included in the Masterpieces section of Super Smash Bros. on Wii U.
Nintendo says you’ll be able to switch between games like you used to be able to with older cartridge based systems “rapid fire” style.
This functionality is planned to be added in the first half of the year and should apply to all currently available amiibo.
