The latest episode of Nintendo Direct has revealed some new information about the next Super Smash Bros. game. Iwata announced during the show that the games will be co-developed by Namco Bandai and Sora. We’re guessing each team is working on a version for the 3DS or Wii U.

The project is being headed up still by Sora’s Masahiro Sakurai who is the father of the series. Namco Bandai will be putting two of its best guys on it as well with producer at Namco Bandai, Kenya Kobayashi working on the game along with the director of the Tales series Yoshito Higuchi working on the game too.

Previously the Smash Bros. series has been developed mostly by HAL Laboratory, the last game in the series, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, however had many teams working on it within Nintendo.

Nintendo said they were working with third parties in new ways, is this what everyone was expecting?
